Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SynKennik, Inc. (“SynKennik,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use SynKennik, our adaptive language-learning service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, password, profile image, native language, known languages, learner type, referral source, account settings, waitlist information, feedback, reports, and messages you submit to us.
We collect learning information created through your use of the service, including course requests, goals, target languages, proficiency levels, generated courses, modules, lessons, assessments, vocabulary and grammar results, exercise answers, progress, scores, streaks, experience points, token usage, and related learning signals such as response timing, hint use, audio replay counts, and self-reported confidence.
If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address and any optional feedback you provide about other learning apps. If you pay for SynKennik, Stripe processes your payment information and sends us billing information such as customer IDs, subscription status, checkout events, invoices, plan status, and token purchases.
We also use technical information needed to operate and protect the service, including authentication cookies, OAuth state cookies, browser storage values created by the app, IP-address-derived rate-limit keys, server logs, error information, and aggregate admin analytics about registrations, courses, progress, and lesson activity.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create, authenticate, maintain, and secure your account.
- Generate and personalize language courses, lessons, assessments, audio, images, explanations, feedback, and practice materials.
- Track progress, adapt difficulty, update learner models, award experience, manage tokens, and enforce course or lesson limits.
- Process subscriptions, token purchases, billing portal access, and related account status.
- Respond to feedback, bug reports, support requests, waitlist submissions, and administrative needs.
- Monitor, debug, secure, improve, and evaluate SynKennik.
3. AI, Learning Models, and Generated Content
SynKennik uses artificial intelligence and learning-model systems to generate and adapt learning materials. We may send course titles, descriptions, goals, language profile information, lesson context, vocabulary, grammar, answers, and generated content to AI providers and observability tools such as OpenAI and Langfuse so the service can generate content, trace model behavior, evaluate quality, and debug issues.
SynKennik also uses an internal machine-learning service to maintain learner state, estimate mastery, and adapt future lessons. Generated images and audio may be stored with infrastructure providers such as Supabase so they can be displayed or played in the app.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to protect third-party sign-in flows. We use browser local storage and session storage for onboarding state, learning preferences, paywall state, cached token balances, cached user stats, and draft assessment progress. You can control cookies and storage through your browser, but some features may not work correctly without them.
5. How We Share Information
We share information with service providers that help us operate SynKennik, including hosting, database, storage, rate limiting, authentication, payment, AI, observability, and analytics providers. These providers process information for us or under their own terms when you use their services, such as Stripe, Google, or GitHub.
We may share information if required by law, to protect rights, safety, security, or the integrity of the service, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets. We do not sell your personal information or use third-party advertising pixels for behavioral ad tracking.
6. Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide SynKennik, maintain your account, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and improve the service. If you delete your account through available account settings, we remove account-linked records from active application databases where deletion is supported, but some information may remain in backups, logs, billing records, third-party provider systems, stored media, or records we must keep for legitimate business or legal reasons.
7. Your Choices
You can access and update profile and language information in your account settings. You can manage or cancel paid subscriptions through the billing portal. You can delete your account through available account settings or contact us for help with privacy requests. Local browser data can be cleared through your browser settings.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including password hashing, HTTP-only authentication cookies, access controls, rate limits, and server-side authorization checks. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Children
SynKennik is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. International Use
SynKennik and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where we or they operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from those where you live.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as by posting an updated version or providing notice in the service.
